Is the nutritional quality of the food maintained when the petitioned substance is used?

The authors of a human consumption trial summarized by JECFA (1990) concluded that ingestion of gellan gum at the given dose level (200 mg/kg/day) had no adverse dietary effects. No other information on potential nutritional effects was found.
